Chicago

We had a great time in Chicago this weekend. Matt had a conference at the Hilton and Henry and I got to tag along. We flew in on Thursday and sat in the back row of a small plane. We didn't have a window but Henry made friends with the flight attendant and was very good. We arrived at 2 pm and started right into our Chicago experience. We took a cab to the Hilton and saw lots of friends from grad school. We went out to dinner at a fun local pizza place called Pizano's with our friends the Vorrell's. Then we went to the Art Institute. We saw paintings by many famous artists including Monet, Serrate, and VanGogh. It was amazing to see some of these paintings in person. Friday We went to the Sears tower (now called the Willis tower.) We went up to the sky deck and really enjoyed the view. It is 103 stories and it was crazy to be up that high. Henry liked the view. We loved that everything was within walking distance of where we were staying. We also walked around the beautiful parks down town and along Lake Michigan. Chicago is a beautiful city. We loved the Corner Bakery and we stopped there every evening for a treat. One of the employee's thought Henry was so cute that she gave him a free cookie. Henry made friends with everyone he met in Chicago. He is a flirt and stole many hearts there. We ate a Reuben at Eleven City Diner for dinner that night and it was wonderful. Saturday we went to the Field museum and enjoyed seeing some of the exhibits there. My favorite was the gems. That night we went to Giordano's for stuffed pizza. I've been waiting for 5 years to eat there. Matt went to Chicago as a grad student for a conference and ate there and I've been wanting to try it ever since. It was totally worth the wait. We had the spinach stuffed pizza and it was fantastic. All in all it was a wonderful trip and we had a great time.

What a great get-a-way! Oh, and my heart started racing just looking at those last two pictures; I really could not even go up there. My belly starts churning after about 10 stories, and if it's walking up stairs... about 3 stories.
