Dallin's Surgery

Dallin had surgery on his eyes on Thursday. He has been crossing his eyes for over a year now. At first his vision was corrected by his glasses but since March he has been crossing even with stronger glasses. We finally got in with an ophthalmologist and He said it was time for surgery.
Everything went so well on Thursday. We really felt everyone's prayers keeping us clam throughout the whole day. Dallin was so brave. He was so cute as he put on the hospital pajamas. The Nurse asked him if he had any questions. He asked how sore his eye would be after the surgery. She told him that they would feel like they had sand in them but that he shouldn't rub them. He joked back, "You'll have to tie down my hands then."
Then we met with Dr Hoffman and the Anesthesiologist Dr Long. Dallin was planning to take some medicine to make it so he wouldn't have separation anxiety but as we talked to Dr. Long, we found out that it tasted bad. Dallin decided to go without it. He was so brave as he said goodbye to us and walked to the OR with Dr Long. He told us later, "I was scared but I knew I had to do it so I just did it." He got to breathe root beer-scented anesthesia to fall asleep. The surgery went very well with no complications. I went in to see Dallin right after he woke up. He was groggy but I was amazed at how aware of everything he was. When he realized that the surgery was over. He sat up and looked around and said, "I don't see two anymore." He recovered so quickly. He had already been drinking a root beer slushy by the time I got back to be with him. He had only been awake for minutes. He even corrected me while I was talking to the nurse about how to take care of him when we got home. He perked up even more during the car ride home and by the time we got home he was running up and down the hall with his brother. He only needed Ibuprofin for the first 18 hours after surgery and has only needed eye drops for a week to prevent infection. His eyes looked so much straighter right after surgery and they continue to look great He seems to be using them together now. I'm so grateful for how well the whole experience went. Thanks to everyone for your prayers we truly felt them helping us.
